Nowadays, the installation of most on-demand printing equipment is designed for printing dozens or hundreds of short edition printing jobs. At this point, the demand depends on the publisher rather than individual customers (the notable exception is the lightningsource device of Ingram, which can really be used to deal with the demand of single print). But usually we choose to use toner based printing. light edge

after binding, books often need to be trimmed on three sides to achieve a beautiful appearance. In addition, the light edge also has practical value: if the outer book edge is not trimmed (the edge opposite to the spine), the book is not easy to turn. There are three methods of light edge: for mass printing, three knife cutting light edge is very feasible, but the price is relatively expensive. You can also choose any size of paper cutter, manual or electric. This aspect also requires three knives, which is a labor-intensive method; The third method is to use a computer-controlled single knife paper cutter, which can rotate and position books

in principle, if the pages of the book are cut quite accurately; If the cover of the book is appropriate, the size of the page and the thickness of the spine are also appropriate when subjected to alternating stress; If the page and cover have been well calibrated during binding. If these assumptions are true, then there is no need for further trimming. In this case, we call it cover only (TCO), which can be achieved by all kinds of machines listed below. online or offline

is your binding machine connected with your printing machine (online) or in another separate workshop (offline)? The advantage of online operation is obvious: there is no gap. Online working should be used in most mass-produced digital printing systems, but it is rarely used in practice. Why?
